My visit to Canada II

Day4:
We went to a birthday party in the "Absolute Towers" which is very ,very........luxurious and Beautiful. The birthday girl was called Anya and the theme was MINIONS!!! It was really fun and there was a bouncy castle, me and my cousin brother had lots of fun. We also watched a movie called "The Minions" and then we met a real life Minion!, then we broke a Pinata. I got lots of candies and they were all my favorites.

Xmas Day: We went for a Xmas party where we had dinner and I made new friends. We all played Volleyball together. Me and my brother also got lot of gifts this Xmas and we loved our gifts a lot. We still love the gifts...  This was the best Xmas ever for me!

Day 5:
Can you guess where we went ???

We went to the Toronto Museum...
We first saw fossils of Dinosaurs, mammals and birds.

We then went to Pompeii exhibition where there were exhibits of the left overs of the famous city that was discovered recently. Pompeii was a city in Italy that was destroyed by the ashes of the very strong volcano eruption from mount Vesuvius. We got to learn lots about how Pompeii people were trapped and tried to survive the eruption. We saw all that was left over of people from that time in Pompeii then we tried dressing up like the people of Pompeii.
 Day 6:
We went to Fantasy Fair which is a fair in a mall and I love that fair. It is mainly rides but it is very much fun. First we went on the fast train which is not exactly a train but it is kind of roller coaster which first goes forward very fast and then stops, goes backwards very fast. Me and my cousin enjoyed a lot and went on the ride 3 times. Then I went to hop and drop which is a ride where you sit and then you go up and drop down fast, this happens 6 times in the ride and is kind of scary. Then we went to the XD theater where we watched a film about roller coaster that has broken tracks. We are riding the roller coaster riding through tunnels and many other things. Afterwards, we went to the bumper cars which all of you might know about. It is a car and nothing happens if you crash into another car as it helps in driving. We then went in a cup and saucer ride where we sat on a kind of tea cup and we had a plate beneath us, we had to turn around plus the plate was also turning us around. So it was making us feel a bit dizzy.

Day 7:
We went to a place called Skyzone which is basically a place full of trampolines. You could only jump if you wanted to run because it is very very hard in those trampolines. There was also a foam zone where you had to jump into a 4 ft pool of foam blocks. I did it a lot and I loved it. Afterwards, we played basketball on a trampoline and I got a score in one of the tall hoops - YAY!!

Day 8:
We went bowling and at first me and my cousin tried out all the balls but we could not figure which was the lightest. Once we found out we started playing. It was very fun.

Day 9:
We went to Niagara falls. It was very fun there but also very cold. I enjoyed a lot and I loved to stop by and see the waterfalls. In the night it was a beautiful sight. I made this for Niagara falls:
N - Neat
I - International
A - Awesome
G - Great
A - Amazing
R - Rapid water
A - Astounding
F - Fantastic
A - Astonishing
L - Lucky
L - Lovely
S - Sweet smell.
This is how Niagara looked at day time ...

And this is how it looked at night time...

We had a great time in Canada and I wish to go again.

Making olive oil with my grandpa

Today I went with my family to a little oil mill to produce olive oil starting from the olives that my grandpa picked from his olive trees.

Some olives

First of all, at home, my grandpa separated the olives from the leaves: grandpa put the olives and the leaves on an inclined piece  of wood; from there, the olives rolled down into a bucket, while the leaves remained on the wood.

Then, we brought the olives to the oil mill; there, we put all the olives on a big scale, to weigh them, and then dumped them into a big funnel.

Then, the olives were brought by a rail into a machine that washed them with cold water, and then into an olive press.

Finally, after some filtering, the olive oil came out of a little tube, ready to be bottled.

With 150 kg of olives, we made 29 litres of extra-virgin olive oil.

It was a great day.

Clément Ader

See original image
French engineer (Muret, 1841 - Toulouse, 1925). Using the studies of Louis Mouillard on the flight of birds, he built his first flying machine in 1886, the Eole, a bat-like design run by a lightweight steam engine of his own invention ; the wings, with a span of 14 yards. In August 1890, a second version of the Eole was built, on October 9 at Armainvilliers (Seine-et-Marne), before witnesses, the airplane managed to take off into the sky flying a distance of more than 40 yards. This modest leap would be followed by others, often unlucky. In August 1892, the Eole II flew a feat of 200 yards at a field, and managed to excite the interest of the minister of war. Ader built Eole III which he gave a name destined for good luck: the Avion. The Avion was like an enormous bat of linen and wood, of 16 yards in wingspan, equipped with two puller propellors of four blades. On October 14, 1897, at Satory, the Avion rolled, took off towards the sky and flew a distance of more than 300 yards, the first verified mechanical flight, and made its inventor "the father of aviation", but the weather were bad, and Ader evidently did not did not know how to pilot; the Avion could not completely travel the circular course which the commission required, the flying machine left the runway and was damaged and the commission stopped the trials. Abandoning everything and in particular public demonstrations, the "father of aviation" ended his life in Muret, in obscurity. His Avion is still displayed at the museum of the Conservatory of Arts and Industry in Paris.

He made the first flying machine in the world. And now we travel with planes.

Discovery of Uranus -- William Herschel

Frederick William Herschel was a German-born British astronomer who discovered Uranus as a planet in March 13, 1781.
Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun. It has the third-largest planetary radius and fourth-largest planetary mass in the Solar system.

Difference between Discovery and Invention

Discovery is known as the act of detecting something that already preexists and has been around over a long period of time.
Invention is using objects, ideas or theories that are already preexisting in order to create a new object, ideas or theories that are not in existence yet.

People I know that have discovered something

I know quite a few discoveries.

Miguel Servet
Miguel Servet was born in Spain in 1511 and he discovered that blood goes around your body all the time and because of that you have lungs to breath. I chose him because he was burned because at his time you went allowed to say things that the church didn't know about.

Santiago Ramon y Cajal
Santiago Ramon y Cajal was a Spanish scientist that discovered the  original pioneering investigations of the microscopic structure of the brain have led to his being designated by many as the father of modern neuroscience. His medical artistry was legendary, and hundreds of his drawings illustrating the delicate arborizations of brain cells are still in use for educational and training purposes.
He also won the prize novel

Raman Effect

Do you know why the colour of sea is blue? The scientific explanation for the blue color of sea-water and sky was given by an indian scientist,C V Raman.
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, (7 November 1888 – 21 November 1970) was one of the most prominent Indian scientists in history ,whose ground breaking work in the field of light scattering earned him the 1930 Nobel Prize for Physics.
On a sea voyage to Europe in 1921, Raman curiously noticed the blue color of the glaciers and the Mediterranean. He was passionate to discover the reason for the blue color. Once Raman returned to India, he performed many experiments regarding the scattering of light from water and transparent blocks of ice.
Raman showed that the blue colour of sea is independent of sky reflection as well as absorption, but rathter it is due to the molecular diffraction.
He discovered that, when light traverses a transparent material, some of the deflected light changes in wavelength. This phenomenon is now called Raman scattering and is the result of the Raman effect.
He was the first Indian to receive the Nobel prize in physics for his work on scattering of light and discovery of the Raman effect.
In 1954, he was honoured with the highest civilian award in India, the Bharat Ratna.
Raman also worked on the acoustics of musical instruments. He was the first to investigate the harmonic nature of the sound of the Indian drums such as the tabla and the mridangam.
