Galileo

Galileo was born on the 15 February 1564. He was an Italian astronomer and an important person because he discovered and invented a lot of things. First of all he improved the telescope and with the telescope he discovered Jupiter’s 4 moons who are now known as the Galilean moons. He also discovered craters on the Moon and last of all Saturn’s ring. He like Copernicus thought that the Earth turned around the Sun and not the Sun turning around the Earth. He also discovered that the Milky Way was made of billions and billions of stars and last of all he discovered that the Sun had sunspots.

He thought that Copernicus findings were right but he wanted too much to convince them. He was sent too prison but Grand Duke Ferdinando 2 was a supporter of his ideas so it was only a house arrest.
